About Ayşe Kulin

Hello!..

Before talking about her books, I would like to give some information about Ayşe Kulin...

EARLY LIFE

- Ayşe Kulin is an Turkish author, as I mentioned before.

Family

- She was born in 1941, İstanbul. 

- Her father's name is Sitare, father's name is Muhittin. Her origins are coming from Ottoman Empire's Helper and Bosnian Kingdoms. 

Childhood

- Her childhood took place in Istanbul and Ankara, he had a nice, calm childhood with a warm family life. 



Education

- She went to "American College for Girls, in Istanbul and graduated from there in 1961.She started writing in primary school with encouraging of her teacher.

CAREER

Between 1984 - 1996

- Her first book which includes stories, "Güneşe Dön Yüzünü" published in 1984. She wrote as a script the story "Gülizar" in that book and it was adapted to cinema in 1986 with the name " Kırık Bebek".

- Kulin, in the year 1986, worked as art and stage director in the TV Series "Ayaşlı ve Kiracıları"

 - In 1996, she published her book "Bir TatHuzur" which tells about musician Münir Nurettin Selçuk's life. In the same year, the book " Foto Sabah Resimleri" was published. 

Between 1997 - 2003


- She published Aylin Devrimel's biography " Adı: Aylin" in the year of 1997. This book presented the author to the country readers. 

 - In 1998, she published her story book "Geniş Zamanlar" this book presented as a TV serie in 2007.

 - In 1999, She published "Sevdalinka"  

- In 2000,  "Füreya" was published  which tells about Füreya Koral's life.

 - In 2001, with "Köprü" Ayşe Kulin mentioned the drama of East Turkey cities during the war. That book presented as a TV Series between 2006 and 2008.

 -In 2002,  she wrote "Nefes Nefese" which includes the story of the men who saved millions of Jewish people from genocide during the World War II.

Between 2004 - Today


- She published "Gece Sesleri" in 2004, and it was presented as a Tv Serie between 2008 and 2009. 

 - "Bir Gün", published in 2005 and translated into English.

 - "Veda- Esir Şehirde Bir Konak" published in 2008 and it was adapted to TV in 2012, but cancelled because of low ratings.

- "Umut - Hayat Akan Bir Sudur" is published in the same year.

 - "Türkan - Tek ve Tek Başına" is published in 2009 which tells about Türkan Saylan's life. 

 - "Hayat" and "Hüzün" are published in 2011.

 - Her last two books, "Gizli Anların Yolcusu" and "Bora'nın Kitabı" are shown to readers in 2012.

 

-AYŞE KULİN AS AN AUTHOR-

Writing Style

- Ayşe Kulin  generally uses a fluent and simple language and generally writes biographic and autobiographic books. She has many many awards and she is praised because of her language. She has also fairy tales for children.

Why Should We Read Ayşe Kulin?

- If you like to read biographic books, and learn about history but not from simple history books, you "have to" read Ayşe Kulin. You won't learn only history and wars.  You will also see the family system in those years.

Sources She Use

- She generally uses a mixed family and history information. Her sources are firstly her own family, after than Turkey's important families or people. As time and place, generally she uses Turkey's recent history.

-AYŞE KULİN AS A JOURNALIST

"Foto Sabah Resimleri" / "Photo Sabah Pictures"

- This book is published in 1996. That book includes little stories, and some essays and columns in it. Then, these stories and writings are published in a newspaper.

-WHAT'S NEW?

"Book of Bora"  / "Bora'nın Kitabı"

- Published in 2012.

-Tells about a man which named Bora, and his rueful story.

"Traveler of Secret Seconds" / "Gizli Anların Yolcusu"

- Published in 2011.

-A psychologic book which tells about humanity''s problems.
